Our beloved sister, a devoted auntie, dedicated cousin, and friend, Ms. Barbara Lee Taylor, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at her residence.

Barbara Lee, as she was affectionately called was born on January 28, 1940, in Sussex County to the late Jessie T. Wyche and John Taylor. She was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church, Waverly, Virginia where she served on various committees.

Barbara Lee was a 1958 graduate of Sussex County Training School. She attended Norfolk State College and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education, later she obtained a Master's Degree from Virginia State University. Her teaching career began in the New Jersey Public School System. She later returned home to Sussex, and in 1978 and began teaching for Sussex County Public Schools until 2005 when she retired. In 2006 her love of teaching continued as a substitute until the pandemic.  Barbara was also a dedicated member of the Waverly Town Council for 12 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John Taylor and Jessie T. Wyche, stepfather, Atlas Wyche, one brother, John Taylor, and niece, Angela K. McClarty of Houston, TX.

Barbara Lee leaves to cherish her memories a loving sister, Alva (Roger) King, one uncle, Robert Turner of Waverly, VA; three aunts, Mary Tucker of Disputanta, VA, Warnetta Turner and Minerva Turner of Waverly, VA; devoted nephews, Roger King Jr. of Waverly, VA, and Derrick Ritter of Winston Salem, NC; devoted nieces, Robin(Tyrone) Augcomfar and Erica Gatling of Waverly, VA, Erin, Kristin, Mariah, Austaun McClarty of Houston, TX, Sonja Taylor, Georgia (Raymond) Logan of Chesapeake, VA, Darlene (Tim) Alston of Richmond, VA; great-nephews and nieces, Jalen Augcomfar, Kareem Winfield of Waverly, VA, Tiara and Diandre Alston of Richmond, VA; one great-great niece, Alyssa Segwa of Houston, TX; two god-daughters who she loved unconditionally Zuri "My Sunshine" Proctor of Waverly, VA, Ricki "My Lea" Parham of Smithfield, VA and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.

Her devoted extended family and friends, Frank and Susan Irving and sons, Lucy Thomas, and Family, Sonda Parham, Thomasine and Johnnie Parker and Family, Brenda Bonner, Valerie Ricks, Liberty Baptist Church Family, and her Elm Street Neighbors.

Public Viewing will be 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Friday, February 11, 2022, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, VA.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Liberty Baptist Church, 319 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, VA, Rev. Karl Marshall Sr, Eulogist, and Rev. Eldridge Lucas, Officiating.
