Annie Louise "Bootsie" Vaughan 89 of 6310 Martin Luther King Highway Spring Grove, Virginia entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at her residence. Annie was born on September 26, 1934, the third oldest of ten children born to Ned and Annie Mae Holmes in Waverly, Virginia. She was educated in the Surry County Public Schools System.
Annie retires from Fort Lee and Williamsburg, Virginia where she worked for many years. In her later years, she served as a caretaker. She had a passion for caring for people.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Circle and Senior Choir until her health declined. She was active with the Surry County Senior Citizens group at the Recreation Center.
Annie enjoyed watching her daily TV Shows, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Family Feud, and Dancing with the Stars. She also enjoyed playing the Lottery. She could often be heard singing any number of her favorite hymns.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents Ned and Annie Mae Holmes; brother Robert Lee Holmes; sisters, Larnell Candie and Marie Saunders; granddaughters, Tunishia Dobie and Lexy Dobie(K-9).
Annie is survived by her children, four daughters, Joyce Dobie of Midlothian, VA, Christine Anderson of Prince George, VA, Sheila Brown(Lorenzo) of Surry, VA and one devoted daughter Elaine Johns of Waverly, VA; one son, Jamie Vaughan of Orange County, VA; five grandchildren, Tonya, Rodney of them one devoted granddaughter, Sherry, and two devoted grandsons, Quavon and Cameron; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Xzavier; six sisters, Martha Saunders, Lucille Shaw, Lula Saunders, Jean Reid, Jerlene Baskerville, and Edith Holmes. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends. Special Thanks to Howard Dobie, Albert Elliott Jr, and her Jerusalem Church Family.
A Funeral Service will be 1:00pm Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Waverly, Virginia, Rev. George Brown, Pastor. Interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, VA
