Obituary

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am." John 14:3

Little did we know that day that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly in death, we do the same.  It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.  For part of us went with you the day GOD called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.  Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same.  But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

A heart of gold stopped beating, two shining eyes at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove, He only takes the best.  God opened his heavenly gates to his newest angel on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital in Henrico, Virginia to Annette Claiborne Conaway.   Annette was born on March 26, 1959, to Robert and Barbara Claiborne in Waverly, Virginia.

Annette attended Sussex County Public Schools, graduating from Sussex Central High School in 1977. Annette was also a member of the basketball team during her time in high school. After high school, Annette continued her studies at Virginia State University. Annette was a member of Higher Way Ministries in Petersburg, Virginia where she served as an usher. She devoted her hard work to Allied Chemical/Advanced Six for a total of 41 years until her health began to decline. Annette really enjoyed knitting, taking care of her plants, and playing the VA Lottery.

Annette is survived by one daughter, Miracle Conaway; steadfast mother, Barbara Claiborne; father, Robert Claiborne; four sisters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Claiborne, Charlene Shaw (William), LaTonya Brown (George) and Joann Barkley (Bernard); four brothers, Ronnie Brock (Marion), Larry Jones, Michael Lockett (Alice) and Jeffrey Crocker; six aunts, Shirley Winfield Davis, Sarah Claiborne, Lavertta Claiborne, DeLores Claiborne, Cora Claiborne, and Isabelle Claiborne; one uncle, Jessie Winfield (Cheryl); one god-daughter, Aubriana World; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She loved spending time with her family and she spent countless hours with her great nephews (Nasir, Qazim, and Kendale Jr.) and great niece (Zaile).
