Mrs. Alice Bivens of Waverly, Virginia was called home by her Heavenly Father Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Accordius Healthcare Center Waverly, Virginia surrounded by her loving family.  Alice was born March 31, 1935, in Southampton County to the late Kermit and Florence Evans.

She was a dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board, Usher Board, and a member of the Choir which she loved.  She was also a foster grandparent.  But most of all she loved to sing, her favorite song was "Yes Jesus Loves Me".  Alice was active in her Church and Community until her health began to decline.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Eugene Bivens, three children, Edwin Bivens, Jacqueline Bivens, and Alisa Nance, one grandchild, Malcolm Pazzo, one brother, Dreyfus Evans, and one nephew, Terrance Evans.

Allice leaves to cherish her memory, seven children, Connie Jones (Rudy) of Petersburg, JoAnn Dowdell of Petersburg, Viola Taylor (Joe) of Newport News, Charlene Tolbert (David) of Petersburg, Avis Elliott (Alphonso), Calvin Bivens, and Lyle Bivens all of Waverly; one sister, Mattie Evans of Petersburg; one brother, Tim Evans of Petersburg; seventeen grandchildren, Demarlow Bivens, Darrell Taylor, Keith Bivens, Clifton Taylor, Shannon Wyche(Jimmy), Eric Dowdell(Nina), Joey Taylor(Jessica), Damita Dowdell, Stacy Tolbert, Sherell Bivens, Devin Bivens, Alexis Bivens, Dominga Nance, Johnathan Tolbert, Michael Bivens, Desiree Bivens, and Anthony Bivens; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives.

The Bivens Family would like to Thank Accordius Health and Rehab Center for the great service that they rendered to our mother during her transition.

Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Virginia.  Public viewing will be 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home Waverly, Virginia.
