Mrs. Alfreda Laverne Jackson (67), of 427 Oak Street Waverly, Virginia departed this life Monday, May 17, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital Richmond, Virginia.  She was a native of Sussex County and attended Sussex County Public Schools and completed her GED.  She is proceeded in death by grandmother Lucy Perry, mother Daisy Jackson (step-father Paul Jackson Sr.), foster parents Ella and James Williams, aunt Mary Smith (Ollie Smith Jr.), sis-in-law Mary Prince, Leana Baines and Emma Perry; brother-in-law Richard Baines.

She was employed at Waverly Health Care Center in Waverly, Va. for over 25 years.  She joined First Baptist Church of Waverly, Va. at an early age where she joined the church choir and was a member of the Usher Board. Laverne later joined Lily of the Valley Deliverance Center where she found Jesus and was baptized in the precious name of Jesus.  She was a faithful member until her health failed.  She loved the Lord and loved to praise his name under the leadership of Bishop Marvin Drew Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Walter Jackson, her devoted children, Leonard Jackson (Barbara) Waverly, Va., Marcus Williams (Chemae) Atlanta, Ga., James Williams (Trina) Zuni, Va., Maurice Williams (Hope) Waverly, Va., Cordary Williams (Trease), Williamsburg, Va., four brothers, Eddie Perry Silver Spring, MD., Clifton Perry Waverly, Va., Carlton N. Perry Sr. (Arlene) Waverly, Va. and Paul Jackson Jr. Waverly, Va., two aunts Rev. Ellen Dugger Washington, D.C., and Rosa Butts North Carolina; 3 sisters Petrola Wilkes Newport News, Va., Dorothy Miller of Detroit, Caprina Johnson Petersburg, Va.; sisters-in-law Alice Butts (Richard) Waverly, Va., and Bertha Smith of Petersburg, Va.; brother-in-law Peter Jackson; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 devoted nieces Sharon Drew and Patrice Thomas and Family; 2 devoted cousins Barbara Gray and Vivian Green; 2 devoted friends Fredricka Holmes and Syliva Gilliam; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Laverne was well-known throughout the town of Waverly.  She was a sweet and loving jewel.  She had a quiet and sweet gentle spirit and very soft-hearted.  She will be missed dearly and she will live forever in our hearts.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, May 22, 2021, at First Baptist Church 315 South Church Street, Waverly, Virginia, Bishop Marvin Drew Sr, Officiating.

Public viewing will be Noon - 5:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.

Repast will be at Lily of The Valley Amphitheater 6273 Beaverdam Road, Waverly, VA 23890 immediately following service.
