Brown Sr.
May 8, 1947 – June 16, 2021
Mr. Albert Monroe Brown Sr., "AL" 74, of Waverly Virginia departed this life on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 5:45 pm at John Randolph Medical Center. Before departing this life Albert made sure to give his life to God while still in the hospital he confessed his love for Christ on June 13, 2021, and joined Calvary Community Baptist Church.
Albert was born on May 8, 1947, to the late Waverly and Mary Brown Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie M. Brown, his one and only sister Mary Rose Brown, brother James Brown Sr and his great-nephew Loren Anthony Mason Jr. that was like a grandson to him.
Albert graduated from Sussex Central High School in 1966. He went on to continue a career in Welding at the Newport News Shipyard for 17 plus years and then retired from Chaparral Steel after 6 years. After retirement, he picked up a hobby fixing lawnmowers. He was well known as the "Lawnmower Man" in town.
He leaves to cherish his memories four devoted children, Alexander S. Jones of Waverly, VA, Albert M. Brown Jr (Brenda) of Spring Grove, VA, Arlene Brown of Waverly, VA and Shavon L. Brown of Fayetteville, NC; four granddaughters, Shaneka R. Jackson (his lottery buddy), Quaneka T. Jackson, Shakyrah N. Johnson and Amanda R. Jones; two grandsons whom he shared a close special relationship with Kaysahn L. Brown and Shaquan L. Brown "Meathead" as he called him; six great-grandchildren; one devoted brother, Waverly Brown Jr of Waverly, VA; two nieces, Barbara J. Brown and Georgette L. Brown; four nephews, James Brown Jr. Kenneth Brown, Travis D. Brown and Benjamin L. Brown; and a host of great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of life will be 1:00pm Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home, Pastor Audie Ellis, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Virginia.
Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, June 25, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home.
